St. Joseph Elementary School participates in sports as a member of the East Bay Parochial League (EBPL) and the Oakland Diocese Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). Involvement in the sports program fosters a sense of fair play, sportsmanship, and responsibility for one’s actions. Students are provided the opportunity to develop physical abilities, to understand the value of exercise and healthy living, and to learn how to be a good teammate.

The sports program depends on enthusiastic parents to help in many ways including coaching, administration, event organizing, and equipment management. In order to participate in the sports program, parents must register each child and agree to the online permission and liability waiver. The school sports fee, regardless of number of sports played, is:
PLEASE NOTE: The total sports fee will be invoiced to each family using the school’s FACTS payment system, NOT through the Sports Sign Up website. Please be sure to complete the registration on this website by clicking all the way through to the "Complete Order" button. It will say you owe $0.00, but we will charge you through FACTS as noted above. To register your child for more than one sport, complete the registration for the first sport and then proceed to "Add a Registration".
